Why Ameren CDB Is Required for Most Work
Ameren Missouri operates Lake of the Ozarks under a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission license. The CDB program is the regulatory gate. Any work that touches the dock's structure, footprint, or flotation falls inside the permit zone, and only an Ameren-Certified Dock Builder can submit the permit application.
That covers:
- New dock construction, every type and configuration.
- Dock modifications, including extensions, slip additions, and reconfigurations.
- Refoaming, the replacement of foam billets in a floating dock's flotation cells.
- Some sundeck and roof additions, depending on how they change the dock footprint.
Pure repair work, replacing decking boards, swapping out hardware, fixing a fender, often falls outside the Ameren permit zone. Even so, the builders on our partner list hold active CDB status. Hiring a non-CDB for a small repair today usually means hiring a second contractor when the next phase requires a permit.
Browse the Ameren CDB directory to see who's certified at the Lake. Or read our explainer on how CDB certification works and what to verify before signing a contract.
